During my recent visit to good ol’ foggy London I encountered something that I just have to share with my fellow FewKid-minded folks. No I’m not talking ‘bout my drunk filled nights or full English hangover breakfasts. It’s something much more lasting and a good tip for all you fashion loving addicts. Nobody can ignore the invasion of the many varsity/leatherman jackets past Fall/Winter and we haven’t seen the last of them. Spring/Summer holds some lighter versions for us to keep on rockin’. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Varsity jacket. I’ve been wearing them since I was just a little innocent young G. Nowadays you cannot escape them. Every self-respecting fashion brand or street label has one or multiple varsity jackets in their past and upcoming collection. Great you would think, but I’m the type of guy that just doesn’t go where the crowd goes. Call it rebellious, a free spirit, extravagant or original(Yes you are allowed to call me all of the above) I just can’t stand when I see some of my wardrobepieces passing me by.
Here comes my problem with the so many varsity jackets out there right now. There are only limited changes you can bring to this iconic piece of clothing. The use of different colours, some of them clean and crispy others filled with badges and patches. The higher end brands use some luxury materials or a limited number fo sale. But essentially they look a-like to me.
In comes House of Billiam, made in England and specialises in bespoke streetwear: hand-made, made-to-measure and crafted from exquisite suit materials. This is a dream for the creative and colour mesmerized people among us. It’s like a colouring picture for the older generation. Let me break it down for you, You have the choice of colours, materials, lining and details to create your very own varsity jacket or hoodie. The kind you only dream of and if you play your cards right a real head twister on the block.
Being British the brand is off course a little patriotic, just like most Brits. This is clearly shown in the choice of materials, wich results in hand sourced fabrics from all over the UK and bought in very limited quantities. Combining some British gentleman with cocky street flavour and a very personal identity is the way I would describe it in my own words. Tailor made “street-wear” with the quality and perfect fit as you would get from a tailor. For around 400 euro’s you can get your very own jacket and hoodies for around 200 euro’s.
The options are limitless and quality and service awesome. You can see the options you have and place order at www.houseofbilliam.com. But for the ultimate experience I suggest you drop by anytime you’re in the great city of London and send my regards to Thomas! I’m counting the days when I can stick my arms in my personalized varsity Billiam.
